Transportation Option A

I-5 (in red) is maintained on the eastside and is placed underground in approximately the same location where it sits today.
Crossing the river would either be accomplished in a tunnel under the river (and removing the Marquam Bridge) or by lowering the Marquam Bridge's structure so that the freeway can go underground before reaching the southern edge of the Hawthorne Bridge on the east side.
This option would include an underground interchange with I-84 (in green) and on/off ramps to the Morrison Bridge for local access to downtown and the central eastside (magenta circle).
